Cooperative Agreement

Overview

Grant Description
Pheasants Forever, Inc. (PF), will work cooperatively with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) within the Prairie Pothole Region (PPR, Figure 1) of Minnesota and Iowa to evaluate and restore native grasslands and wetlands on existing National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) System lands through the hiring of eight field biologists. These positions will help address climate change as it pertains to making Service properties more resilient to climate change and increasing carbon sequestration.

The mission of PF is to conserve pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy. Pheasants Forever has demonstrated success on several large-scale projects with the Service in previous years, making PF ideally situated to tackle the nature-based solutions effort.
