Grant Description
In order to capture the large tourism market passing through the Wind River Indian Reservation, the Tribal Buffalo Initiative will create a tourism destination that showcases the Eastern Shoshone's and Northern Arapaho's buffalo rematriation program.
This project will construct a cultural center for the Tribal Buffalo Initiative, including a 14,000 square foot facility with a theater, a museum, and a visitors' center with public restrooms, a gift shop and a coffee bar.
The museum will feature the history of the buffalo and the cultural importance of the herds in tribal culture.

PHASE 1 OF THE COMPETITION IDENTIFIED FINALISTS THAT MADE A CLEAR CASE FOR THE NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES OF THEIR CHOSEN GEOGRAPHY AND SUCCESSFULLY ARTICULATED A PLAN TO ADDRESS THOSE NEEDS. PHASE 2 OF THE COMPETITION WILL MAKE IMPLEMENTATION AWARDS BASED ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN APPLICANT TO RAISE PRIME-AGE EMPLOYMENT AND WAGES, AND PROMOTE LONG-TERM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
