Grant Description
This EDA investment supports the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund of the Electrical Industry with renovating a 10,000 square foot building to support job safety training for growing electrical generating industry development in Walden, New York.
The project work includes installing new bathrooms, a new HVAC system, insulation, self-sufficient emergency power systems, updating electrical power and wiring, and required appurtenances.
This training space will have a variety of classroom and true-to-form training environments to ensure future employees can safely support cutting edge industry.
Once completed, the project will promote resiliency and stimulate economic growth throughout the region.
The project will be matched with $957,000 in local funds and is expected to create 490 jobs, retain 2,870 jobs, and generate $429,240,000 in private investment, according to grantee estimates.
This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Hudson Valley Regional Council.

SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS, AWARDS MADE UNDER THIS NOFO WILL HELP COMMUNITIES AND REGIONS DEVISE AND IMPLEMENT LONG-TERM ECONOMIC RECOVERY STRATEGIES THROUGH A VARIETY OF NON-CONSTRUCTION AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS, AS APPROPRIATE, TO ADDRESS ECONOMIC CHALLENGES IN AREAS WHERE A PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION OF A MAJOR DISASTER WAS ISSUED UNDER THE ROBERT T. STAFFORD DISASTER RELIEF AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE ACT (42 U.S.C. SECTION 5121 ET SEQ.) (STAFFORD ACT) "AS A RESULT OF HURRICANES IAN AND FIONA, AND OF WILDFIRES, FLOODING, AND OTHER NATURAL DISASTERS OCCURRING IN CALENDAR YEARS 2021 AND 2022...."
