Overview

Grant Description
This implementation grant will add economic development capacity to the most distressed rural communities across the Olympic Peninsula.

Led by the North Olympic Peninsula Resource Conservation & Development Council, the project allocates funding to the City of Forks, the Hoh, Quileute, Makah, Lower Elwha Klallam, and Jamestown S'Klallam Tribes, as well as technical assistance to the North Hood Canal Chamber of Commerce, to address barriers to employment for prime age workers, place workers in good jobs, and expand economic and workforce development.

These awards will ensure that the most remote distressed communities on the Olympic Peninsula will be able to participate in the North Olympic Peninsula's Recompete Coalition.
Funding Goals
PHASE 1 OF THE COMPETITION IDENTIFIED FINALISTS THAT MADE A CLEAR CASE FOR THE NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES OF THEIR CHOSEN GEOGRAPHY AND SUCCESSFULLY ARTICULATED A PLAN TO ADDRESS THOSE NEEDS. PHASE 2 OF THE COMPETITION WILL MAKE IMPLEMENTATION AWARDS BASED ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN APPLICANT TO RAISE PRIME-AGE EMPLOYMENT AND WAGES, AND PROMOTE LONG-TERM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
