Grant Description
The Reinvest Birmingham Recompete Plan, led by the City of Birmingham, will support the persistently distressed neighborhoods of North Birmingham, Northside, Pratt, and Smithfield.

Northwest Birmingham has experienced significant challenges in workforce participation and prime-age employment.

This project will add capacity to several existing training programs, through partnerships and subawards to Salvation Army to train 750 people, to Lawson State Community College to train 1500 people, to Craft Training Staffing Agency for 5 career navigators, and additional funding for 300 students to get work-based learning opportunities.
Funding Goals
PHASE 1 OF THE COMPETITION IDENTIFIED FINALISTS THAT MADE A CLEAR CASE FOR THE NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES OF THEIR CHOSEN GEOGRAPHY AND SUCCESSFULLY ARTICULATED A PLAN TO ADDRESS THOSE NEEDS. PHASE 2 OF THE COMPETITION WILL MAKE IMPLEMENTATION AWARDS BASED ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN APPLICANT TO RAISE PRIME-AGE EMPLOYMENT AND WAGES, AND PROMOTE LONG-TERM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
