Overview

Grant Description
Purpose: Develop a Supply Chain Activation Network (SCAN).

Perform semiconductor supply chain analytics to determine local capabilities and needs of in-region fabs and suppliers.

Identify opportunities for local supply chain firms to pivot into NY Smart I-Corridor's industry.

Expand manufacturing support, training, and other technical assistance, including advising on pivots into the semiconductor supply chain and seed funding for local firms.

Establish an I-Corridor purchasing roundtable to improve sourcing and procurement processes.

Expected outcomes: End to end map of the semiconductor supply chain in the Tech Hub's region (Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse), including a list of Tier 1 semiconductor suppliers as well as gap and opportunity analysis by analyzing 4,600 manufacturing companies in the region.

Database of capabilities of the 4,600 manufacturers, used to identify potentially more than 450 firms that could pivot into the semiconductor supply chain.

Technical assistance provided to 185 firms, facilitating business growth and investments.

Competitively award $600,000 in seed funds to grow the semiconductor supply chain in the Tech Hub's region.

Increased sourcing volumes from the semiconductor supply chain in the Tech Hub's region (Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse).

Intended beneficiaries: Expanded universe of supply chain companies and manufacturers for in-region fabs and Tier 1 suppliers.

New market opportunities and seed funding for local firms and new entrants that can serve the semiconductor industry.

Subrecipient activities: Economic development organizations (INBN in Buffalo, GRE in Rochester, CenterState in Syracuse) and manufacturing extension partnerships (Insyte in Buffalo, NextCorps in Rochester, TDO in Syracuse) will help offer manufacturing support and technical assistance, and coordinate I-Corridor purchasing roundtable.

Seed grant awardees will receive funding to support participation in the semiconductor supply chain.
