Grant Description
Purpose: The New York SMART I-Corridor serves to use a governance infrastructure that enables growth of the semiconductor cluster through a variety of stakeholders, including labor, community-based organizations, philanthropy, research institutions, government, and private sector participants.

Expected outcomes: The Governance Innovation Office seeks to ensure connectivity and coordination across the I-Corridor region to realize economic growth throughout and beyond the Tech Hubs grant period, monitor progress and provide guidance to ensure Tech Hub goals are met, and encourage strategic planning and resourcing for regional needs within the semiconductor sector.

Intended beneficiaries: The I-Corridor Innovation Office governance component project will work on ensuring geographic collaboration and balanced representation across Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, along with Ithaca and the Auburn and Batavia MISAs.

Private, public, and community partners will be equipped with resources, skills, and training to grow manufacturing sectors with leadership summits to enable proper communications, marketing, finance budgeting, and community engagement.

Subrecipient activities:

Establish the NY SMART I-Corridor Innovation Office to enable effective partnerships for funding, connectivity, progress monitoring, and strategic planning.

Ensure geographic collaboration and representation by bringing community, private, and public partners together.

Seek out investments and business retention to improve growth.
