Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This EDA investment will result in water and sewer main extensions to spur future economic development and growth in flooding-impacted Yellowstone County, Montana.
Yellowstone County and Lockwood Water and Sewer District are addressing the local and regional need for critical infrastructure by extending existing water and wastewater lines from the unincorporated community of Lockwood into the recently established Lockwood Targeted Economic Development District, a few miles northeast of Billings, Montana.
The economic impact will encourage business development while increasing disaster resiliency through the extension of water and sewer services to an area that relies on private wells and septic systems along the Yellowstone River.
This project will be transformative to the county's ability to attract employers to the area.
This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Beartooth Resource Conservation and Development.
EDA funds Beartooth Resource Conservation and Development to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
