Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This EDA FY23 Disaster Supplemental Economic Adjustment Assistance Award to the City of Rice Lake will help the city install water and wastewater infrastructure to a 135-acre industrial park on land owned by the Duluth International Airport.
Economic distress from recent industrial closures in the region was compounded by the impacts of severe storms that struck the Duluth region of Lake Superior in 2022.
The two-mile long EDA-funded extension of water and wastewater lines will benefit Minnesota Power's new Central Work Area Service Center to be built in the industrial park.
The project is expected to generate 150 new jobs and $150 million in private investment.
