Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This EDA Economic Adjustment Assistance to Coal Communities award will help the City of Harbor Beach construct a higher capacity watermain to serve the regional water system and large industrial users.
Following the closure and demolition of a coal-fired power plant located in the heart of Harbor Beach, local leaders recognized the need for site redevelopment and supporting infrastructure including the expanded watermain.
The EDA-funded 6,000 feet of 24" watermain will improve upon the decaying 16" watermain that will be removed as part of the project.
The expected redevelopment of the coal power plant site and increased water capacity throughout the city is expected to create and retain 285 jobs.
