Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: This award will help to strengthen and diversify the region's economy, in part, by providing entrepreneurs at all stages with assistance in launching and growing their businesses, as well as attracting investors.
Activities to be performed: Fort Lewis College (FLC), the Southern Ute Indian Tribe (SUB-RECIPIENT), and Animas Accelerator (SUB-RECIPIENT) together will complete the Venture Challenge Build project titled Starting, Scaling, and Sustaining Entrepreneurship in Rural Southwest Colorado, in order to foster a regional ecosystem of sustainable entrepreneurship.
The applicants will leverage the FLC Center for Innovation located in Durango, Colorado as a central hub to support all levels of entrepreneurship via in-person and virtual support throughout the region. The project endeavors to build and strengthen a regional pipeline of more qualified and diverse business professionals and entrepreneurs, ultimately resulting in more high wage jobs and a more resilient regional economy.
