Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Award Purpose
Quest DWG projects advance the department's promise to create high-quality jobs and a skilled workforce and reflect the administration's commitment to providing opportunities for all workers to overcome the employment, economic, and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants enable individuals adversely affected by the pandemic and the social and economic inequities that the pandemic exacerbated to enter, return to, or advance in high-quality jobs in growth industries such as infrastructure, environment and climate, the care economy, and other critical sectors. Quest DWGs also address business and industry needs for a resilient and skilled workforce.
Activities Performed
Employment and training activities will include enhanced career development services, occupational training, work-based learning such as work experience and transitional jobs, and intensive supportive services such as daycare, transportation assistance, food, specialized clothing, or equipment needed to obtain high-quality in-demand jobs and skilled trades. Strategic partnership activities will include collaborating with community action agencies, universities, and registered apprenticeship industry intermediaries to create new career pathways, reach underserved populations, and produce industry-specific training to address the talent pipeline needs of the state's priority industries. Community and potential participant outreach activities will be led by community action agencies and community college partners to ensure that underrepresented, eligible individuals are aware of high-quality jobs for skilled broadband technicians and are engaged in the project. Business engagement activities will include engaging with industry leaders and intermediaries to connect eligible participants with emerging training and employment opportunities in the broadband and fiber optic industries.
Deliverables
600 planned participants enrolled.
Intended Beneficiary
Individuals from historically marginalized communities or groups and individuals including Latinx, African Americans, veterans, single mothers who are heads of households, and justice-involved citizens.
Subrecipient Activities
Local workforce development boards will enroll and train participants.
