Grant Description
Award Purpose
To use the U.S. DoD Transition Assistance Program as a roadmap to delivery of services throughout the three stages of federal inmates' transition: during incarceration, throughout release into residential reentry centers, and after release into the community.
Activities Performed
Enrolling and serving federal inmates during incarceration, at RRCs, and upon community release; adoption of Dept. of Defense transitioning servicemember model for returning residents; expansion and development of education and training opportunities aligned with local labor market needs; development of interdisciplinary, regional teams led by DCEO and returning resident advocates; development of digital literacy and employability skills training; support for "whole household" in programming; expansion of registered apprenticeship program opportunities.
Deliverables
Enroll 750 participants; increased employment and wage rates for returning residents; reduced recidivism rates for program participants; increased coordination of and capacity building in local workforce innovation areas and social service organizations; new and expanded career and education programs aligned with statewide labor market needs; new digital literacy and essential employability skills curriculum and resources.
