Title
Eco-Friendly Innovation in Manufacturing Lithium Metal for Batteries
Abstract
Chemelectronics LLC will develop eco-friendly innovation in manufacturing lithium metal for batteries. The technical approach will leverage the low-pressure hydrogen plasma for reacting with lithium cation to form LiH. The formed LiH will be converted into Li and hydrogen under vacuum at melting temperature (688.7 °C). During Phase I, Chemelectronics LLC will (1) test the different lithium salt for hydrogen plasma and (2) carry out preliminary conversion of LiH into lithium metal and hydrogen. It is anticipated that multiple iterations will be required to optimize the hydrogen plasma process and thermal decomposition of LiH.
