Title
Electric Transit Optimization through High-Power Wireless Charging
Abstract
Statement of the problem or situation that is being addressed in your application.
Electrification of public and shared transportation is an important step to fostering sustainable mobility
solutions in the United States. A significant challenge to adoption today is the availability, reliability and
cost of charging infrastructure. Transit providers require high-power charging systems that allow for
continuous operations, without burdensome physical or space requirements.
General statement of how this problem is being addressed.
Resonant Linkĺs novel, high performance and scalable wireless chargers can provide the reliable power
needed to support electric transportation. With industry leading gap and misalignment tolerances, and
successful deployment across a range of government and commercial use cases, Resonant Linkĺs
technology is well positioned to support opportunity charging through integration with future transit
systems. Leveraging this technology, Resonant Link will address system-level optimization to enable the
widespread adoption of electrified transit infrastructure without cost increases or extensive vehicle
modifications.
What is to be done in Phase I?
Resonant Link will conduct an in-depth analysis and system-wide optimization for integration of efficient,
high power wireless charging solutions. This effort will determine the ideal battery size, charger
specifications, and charger placement strategies for various mobility systems. Resonant Linkĺs system
optimization process is focused on determining an ideal cost to operational benefit ratio that will enable
future pilot opportunities and successful adoption.
Commercial Applications and Other Benefits.
Resonant Linkĺs technology contributes to the broader societal focus on electric vehicle adoption, which
has the potential to significantly lower carbon emissions within the next decade. Adoption and
optimization of charging technology in transit applications can allow for scaling into other vehicle and
industrial applications, including the broader passenger vehicle market.
