Title
Development of the Powder Metallurgy Supply Chain for Nuclear Components
Abstract
Cinco Research in cooperation with team partners will work to analyze the manufacturing process of utilizing can based PM HIP to produce nuclear grade components. The team will develop, test, and produce can PM HIP samples as outlined under the conditions in the 13a work scope. Phase I activities will include the design, sample production, and testing needed to qualify the approach for producing larger demonstration components. The primary design, prototyping, and sample preparation will be done by the leading organization while the testing and laboratory analysis will be done by third party analysis. In this research effort, Cinco Research will focus on Alloy 600 / Inconel 600 production of samples via PM HIP. Cinco Research will fabricate the cans from mild steel. These cans will be designed for production of fatigue testing coupons, filled with powder from various suppliers, then processed by HIP. Cinco Research seeks to build off other efforts by the PI related to next generation reactor component development with the DOE, seeking to become a ôTier 1ö nuclear component supplier. This work will be commercialized through establishing a new commercial supply chain for nuclear grade PM components through fully owned subsidiary machine shop.
