Title
A Hierarchical, Secure, Wireless Communications Network Architecture for the Smart Electric Grid, Applicable to Digital Twin
Abstract
TeraSpatial aims to develop a solution, directly addressing the goals of the Office of Electricity (OE), to improve the robustness, reliability, and security of the power grid by delivering a flexible, AI-infused, distributed, secure wireless communications system, based on advances in 5G and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), for command and control of the power grid. This constitutes an essential element to enable a Digital Twin Power Grid. The hierarchical wireless communications network will support data capacities 10-100 times more than current solutions, without needing fiber, and lead to direct improvements in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) efficiency and reliability by allowing significantly more real-time sensor data (including video) to be harvested from the grid endpoints, thereby facilitating use of advanced AI techniques.
