Funding Goals
CURRENT NUCLEAR GLOVEBOX MANUFACTURERS DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT MANUFACTURING CAPACITY TO MEET THE
DOE/NNSA’S ANTICIPATED GLOVEBOX DEMAND THROUGH 2035. THE DEMAND IS DRIVEN PRINCIPALLY BY THE MAGNITUDE
AND TIMING OF GLOVEBOXES REQUIRED BY THE LOS ALAMOS PLUTONIUM PIT PRODUCTION PROJECT (LAP4) AND THE
SAVANNAH RIVER PLUTONIUM PROCESSING FACILITY (SRPPF). OTHER PROJECTS, ACROSS NNSA, DOE, DOD, COMMERCIAL
INDUSTRY, AND THE UNITED KINGDOM’S ATOMIC WEAPONS ESTABLISHMENT (AWE) ALSO REQUIRE GLOVEBOXES IN
SIGNIFICANT QUANTITIES AND MAY COMPETE WITH NNSA'S PROGRAMS FOR GLOVEBOX DESIGN AND FABRICATION.
