Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law - Skagit River Valley Transformation for Climate Resiliency

Under this grant, the recipient will pursue approaches that are intended to mitigate the risk of interruptions of energy delivery prior to a power outage through employing “strategic undergrounding”, in order to enable faster response times during an outage event by utilizing sensor technologies to detect and restore service quickly after an outage event with microgrid and black-start capabilities.

The recipient will seek to upgrade/develop existing infrastructure in order to proactively prevent outages from climate-induced disasters like floods, wildfires, and severe storms with a focus on DACs and tribal communities.

The recipient will employ technologies that allow for real-time visibility, situational awareness, and grid flexibility to minimize outage response time and impact in severe weather events.

The recipient will develop a replicable, scalable model for clean energy islanding in rural, disadvantaged communities.

The recipient will seek to leverage these energy infrastructural investments as a platform for economic development and community engagement with DACs and tribal nations.
