Grant Description
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law - North Plains Connector Interregional Innovation (NPCII)
The objectives of North Plains Connector Interregional Innovation (NPCII) project include:
Developing and constructing North Plains Connector (NPC), a transformational, large-scale interregional connection between the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) that will improve the resiliency and reliability of the U.S. electric grid using innovative high voltage direct current (HVDC) voltage source converter (VSC) technology.
Upgrading the Colstrip Transmission System (CTS) to allow for power transfer from the Colstrip Substation in Eastern Montana—to which the North Plains Connector intends to interconnect—to the Northwest.
