Community-Based Model to Bring Solar Vulnerable Households in Puerto Rico

Let’s Share the Sun seeks to accelerate local ownership of resilient solar systems and local wealth creation with Puerto Rican solar firms, leveraging community-based philanthropic model along with a non-profit third-party finance model to achieve scale and ensure that all members of a community are served with reliable and affordable energy - even those most vulnerable and hard-to-reach last-mile communities.

LSTS seeks to reach 500 homes with construction completed by local installation companies in Puerto Rico.
Funding Goals
THIS FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT (FOA) UNDER THE PUERTO RICO - ENERGY RESILIENCE FUND HAS THREE STRATEGIC GOALS: (1) ENHANCE ENERGY RESILIENCE FOR VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH THE RAPID INSTALLATION OF ROOFTOP SOLAR PV AND BATTERY STORAGE SYSTEMS. THROUGH THIS FIRST FUNDING OPPORTUNITY, DOE AIMS TO INCENTIVIZE THE INSTALLATION OF ROUGHLY 30,000-40,000 RESIDENTIAL SYSTEMS; (2) REDUCE ENERGY BURDEN (I.E., THE PERCENTAGE OF GROSS HOUSEHOLD INCOME SPENT ON ENERGY COSTS) FOR PROGRAM BENEFICIARIES; AND (3) SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF THE CLEAN ENERGY WORKFORCE IN PUERTO RICO, AS WELL AS SUPPORT EDUCATION AND PROTECTION FOR BENEFICIARIES.
