Overview
Grant Description
Industrial Carbon Capture from an Existing Hot Briquetted Iron Manufacturing Facility using the CryoCap FG Technology.
The overall objective of the project is to execute and complete front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for a commercial-scale, carbon capture project. This project aims to separate 95% of the total CO2 emissions at a Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) plant. The plant currently emits approximately 1 million tonnes CO2/yr.

Funding Goals
THIS FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT (FOA) HAS A DUAL FOCUS FOR NATURAL GAS AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS: TO COMPLETE FEED STUDIES USING GENERATION 2 CARBON CAPTURE SYSTEMS CAPTURING 95% OF THE TOTAL CO2 EMISSIONS, AND TO DEVELOP LOWER-COST, HIGHLY EFFICIENT, TRANSFORMATIONAL CARBON CAPTURE TECHNOLOGIES. THE OVERALL GOAL OF EXECUTIVE ORDER 14008 (DATED JANUARY 27, 2021), “TACKLING THE CLIMATE CRISIS AT HOME AND ABROAD,” IS TO ''… ENSURE AMERICA AND THE WORLD CAN MEET THE URGENT DEMANDS OF THE CLIMATE CRISIS, WHILE EMPOWERING AMERICAN WORKERS AND BUSINESSES TO LEAD A CLEAN ENERGY REVOLUTION THAT ACHIEVES A CARBON POLLUTION-FREE POWER SECTOR BY 2035 AND PUTS THE UNITED STATES ON AN IRREVERSIBLE PATH TO A NET-ZERO ECONOMY BY 2050.
