Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
The primary objective of our program is to enhance the energy efficiency of facilities occupied by Rhode Island state agencies.

This project will accrue numerous benefits for the state, including reduced energy costs and improved health, safety, and comfort for building occupants.

Importantly, by decreasing and optimizing energy consumption, we will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with both the Rhode Island 2021 Act on Climate and Executive Order 23-06.

The Act on Climate stipulates mandatory, enforceable, economy-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets, ultimately aiming for net zero emissions in Rhode Island by 2050.

Executive Order 23-06 sets interim targets for building efficiency and fossil fuel reductions at state agencies in alignment with the Act on Climate trajectory of net zero emissions by 2050.

Our program will last for three years.

In budget period 1 we will concentrate on building program outreach, assembling the technical team, identifying project sites, and executing at least one pilot project.

During budget period 2 our primary focus will be implementing the program, targeting a total of 10 projects throughout the grant's duration, including those in period 1.
