Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
Developing a solar-wildlife database to improve siting and permitting of solar energy facilities.
A. Project Objectives:
This project will design and construct a data-sharing infrastructure (DSI) for data on the interactions of solar photovoltaic (PV) installations with wildlife and other natural resources to support scientific research and solar energy project siting activities.
The DSI will allow data owners to publish their data in a secured, controlled manner for access by registered users. The DSI will facilitate the intake of data by providing standardized formats for reviewing the raw data, cleaning and standardizing data in REWI-provided templates, and making that data available for query.

Funding Goals
TO INVEST IN INNOVATIVE RESEARCH THAT ACCELERATES THE LARGE-SCALE DEVELOPMENT AND DEPLOYMENT OF SOLAR TECHNOLOGY TO SUPPORT AN EQUITABLE TRANSITION TO A DECARBONIZED ELECTRICITY SYSTEM BY 2035 AND DECARBONIZED ENERGY SECTOR BY 2050. DECARBONIZING THE GRID RESPONSIBLY AND EQUITABLY REQUIRES THAT WILDLIFE AND ECOSYSTEMS ASSOCIATED WITH SOLAR ENERGY FACILITIES ARE WELL UNDERSTOOD.
