Overview
Grant Description
1. Fuse upgrade. Replace conventional fuses with reclosers across 500 miles of distribution lines in four circuits originating from the Carpenter Substation in Whitley County, Kentucky.
2. Right-of-way (ROW) clearing and management. In Bell, Whitley, and Knox counties of Kentucky, clear ROW for the two poorest-performing circuits in the region.
Sow native grasses and plants to reduce annual ROW maintenance costs.
3. Community benefits. Lower customers’ energy burden by keeping energy costs low, reduce annual outages, reduce wildfire risk, create habitats for pollinators and local wildlife in the ROWs, and work with local community leaders to promote clean energy and energy resiliency projects.
