Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
The overall project objectives are to develop and share a body of knowledge to de-risk integrated carbon capture and storage (CCS) demonstrations and catalyze investments for commercial-scale, integrated CCS across industries in the U.S. This project will complete a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study for an advanced CO2 absorber/stripper unit to demonstrate at commercial scale, in a commercial electricity generation setting, technologies that:
-Capture CO2 at an existing natural gas combined heat and power (CHP) facility that exports 50+% of its generated electricity to the grid and will be operated commercially until at least 2035.
-Achieve minimum, unit-wide, 90% CO2 capture efficiency once stable operations are attained.
-Evaluate the potential to reduce other kinds of emissions associated with carbon capture technology.
