Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
This cooperative agreement is awarded to Illinois Institute of Technology.
It is a multi-institutional collaboration between Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), GTI Energy, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Propane Education and Research Council (PERC), and industrial partner SHV Energy.
The goal is to demonstrate a 5kW prototype (4 kg/d equivalent to 180 MJ(LHV)/day of propane) using a system of multiple CO2 electrolyzer stacks operating at up to 10-bar with complementary process units including separation and recycle units to achieve 97% propane selectivity, energy to liquid efficiency of >50% and multi-pass carbon yield of >85%.
Project entitled, “Renewable Propane Production Using Dynamic CO2 Electrolysis (E-Propane).”
