Project Title: Next-Generation Lithium Metal Anode Cells for EVs and Electric Aviation

24M Technologies proposes to build on foundational work completed by members of our team under two ARPA-E projects. We propose new development and scale-up activities for batteries incorporating 24M's semisolid cathode alongside unique Lithium Electrode Sub-Assembly (LESA) technology.
Funding Goals
UNDER THE CURRENT SCALEUP PROGRAM, 24M AND AND BATTERY AERO INC. (ABA) HAVE CREATED THE TECHNOLOGICAL FOUNDATION FOR HIGH-ENERGY DENSITY LITHIUM-METAL CELL, WHICH IS POISED TO FIND SIGNIFICANT UTILITY IN ELECTRIFIED AVIATION. THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PIPELINE HAS SECURED BINDING FLIGHT TEST AGREEMENTS BETWEEN ABA AND PIVOTAL, AN ULTRALIGHT EVTOL. THIS PLUS-UP SUPPORTS THE TECHNICAL AND COMMERCIAL MATURATION FOR FURTHER MANUFACTURING AGREEMENTS OF LITHIUM METAL CELLS AND SYSTEMS WITH ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT OEMS. THE KEY MILESTONES PROPOSED FOR THE PLUS-UP PROPOSAL INCLUDE: ¿¿ PILOT LINE MODIFICATION AND PRODUCTION OF LARGE-FORMAT LI-M CELLS TO MEET PIVOTAL REQUIREMENTS ¿¿ SAFETY TESTING FOR MULTI-LAYER LI-M CELLS IN THE FINAL PIVOTAL DESIGN ¿¿ TECHNOLOGY VALIDATION TESTS IN A 1KWH PROP-STAND, A SINGLE-ENGINE FLIGHT TEST WITH PIVOTAL, AND AN ALL-ENGINE FLIGHT TEST WITH PIVOTAL AIRCRAFT
