Overview
Grant Description
This project is to construct a community solid waste convenience center in the village of As Gonno, with a 5-ton day capacity for household residential waste. The center will be able to separate waste and recyclables before being hauled to the landfill or transfer station.
The residential transfer station convenient center will be operated by the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division. It will serve the villages of Fina Sisu, Kana Tabla, KoblerVille, San Antonio, San Jose, San Vicente, Tottotville, Dan Dan, and Chalan Kanoa on the island of Saipan, in the CNMI.

Funding Goals
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS ADDRESS A VARIETY OF INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS IN THE U.S. TERRITORIES INCLUDING CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE SUCH AS HOSPITALS SCHOOLS WASTEWATER AND SOLID WASTE SYSTEMS. IMPROVEMENTS TO CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE NOT ONLY BENEFIT THE CURRENT POPULATION AND BUSINESSES BUT ALSO LAY THE GROUNDWORK TO ATTRACT NEW INVESTMENT TO THE TERRITORIES THEREBY PROMOTING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. PUBLIC LAW 94241 PUBLIC LAW 104134 AND CURRENT YEAR APPROPRIATIONS.
