Grant Description
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is requesting $45,000,000 ($36,000,000 federal/$9,000,000 state) in FFY 2019-2020 Statewide 5337 State of Good Repair Fixed Guideway funds for a program of capital projects that includes:
Purpose of the award:
1) NHL Track Program - (C-32)
2) NHL Track Program - (C-33)
1) NHL Track Program - (C-32) - This $18,000,000 ($14,000,000 federal/$3,600,000 state) request will be used for the continued maintenance of the track structure on the New Haven Line but with an extended scope that consists of additional line work outlined in the project description. This is a continuation of the track program project included in FTA grants with an extended scope: FTA grants: CT-2017-017 $10,000,000 total ($8,000,000 federal/$2,000,000 state) CT-2018-008 $10,000,000 total ($8,000,000 federal/$2,000,000 state) CT-2018-014 $7,000,000 total ($5,600,000 federal/$1,400,000 state) CT-2020-020 $14,000,000 total ($11,200,000 federal/$2,800,000 state) CT-2021-013 $5,000,000 total ($4,000,000 federal/$1,000,000 state) Total to date $46,000,000. Additional funding through this grant $18,000,000 for a total of $64,000,000.
2) NHL Track Program - (C-33) - Funding request of $27,000,000 ($21,600,000 federal/$5,400,000 state) for the continued purchase and installation of ties, turnouts, continuous welded rail, as well as surfacing track miles. All work is based on the annual cycle in order to maintain operating speeds and comfort. This is a continuation of the track program project included in FTA grants: CT-2021-013 $40,000,000 total ($32,000,000 federal/$8,000,000 state) Total to date $40,000,000. Additional funding through this grant $27,000,000 for a total of $67,000,000.
Activities to be performed:
The projects involve the purchase and installation of ties, turnouts, continuous welded rail, as well as surfacing track miles.
Expected outcomes/intended beneficiaries:
This work will maintain fixed guideway state of good repair to the benefit of all who utilize the North Eastern Corridor.

By executing this grant, we certify that projects funded in this grant are included in the 2018 Transit Asset Management (TAM) Plan Investment Prioritization section. All administrative and statutory requirements have been met in accordance with the 5337 State of Good Repair Formula Program as articulated in Circular 5300.1.
