Grant Description
Award Purpose
The purpose of this award is to carry on RCBI's proven methods of outreach, training customization, and coordination with manufacturers, as well as its approach to articulation agreements with institutions of higher education. This will be performed with a heightened awareness and emphasis on technologically advanced manufacturing and manufacturing in key fields such as automotive, aerospace, and semiconductors. AW2 will continue to enter into formal agreements with companies to sponsor employee apprentices and negotiate the needs and content of the apprenticeship, work-process schedules, and standards.
Goals
The goals of this award are as follows:
- Serve 910 individuals
- Have 400 individuals categorized as participants in the apprenticeship program
- Attain credentials for 685 individuals
- Benefit 70 employers through the program
Activities Performed
The following activities will be performed:
- Related Training Instruction (RTI) and on-the-job learning (OJL)
- Supervisor train-the-trainer
- Postsecondary education
- Microcredentialing
- Creation of new apprenticeable occupations
- Targeting underrepresented demographics
- Marketing campaign
Deliverables
The following deliverables are expected:
- 400 individuals categorized as participants in the apprenticeship program
- Attainment of credentials for 685 individuals
- 70 employers benefiting from the program
Intended Beneficiary
The intended beneficiaries of this award are advanced manufacturing incumbent employees, women, historically underrepresented groups, and economically disadvantaged youth.
Subrecipient Activities
Subrecipients will:
- Refer individuals to program activities
- Provide essential skills training
- Connect individuals to services that will help them overcome barriers to participation
- Connect RCBI to similar service providers in other areas throughout the country
