Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
AMERICAN FOUNDATIONS [USMA?S AMERICAN FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN JANUARY OF 2023 UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DR. HUGH LIEBERT AND DR. ROB MCDONALD (SEE ATTACHMENT 4: BIOGRAPHIES OF KEY PERSONNEL). THE PROGRAM OFFERS AN ACADEMIC MINOR ROOTED IN THE HUMANITIES THAT ALLOWS CADETS TOSTUDY AMERICA?S FOUNDING PRINCIPLES IN DEPTH. MORE BROADLY, THE PROGRAM CREATES AN INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNITY OF CADETS AND FACULTY WHO ENRICH USMA?S UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE AMERICAN FOUNDING AND THE CONSTITUTION. CADETS HAVE A DISTINCT RELATIONSHIP TO THE AMERICAN FOUNDING, AS THEIR EDUCATION CULMINATES IN AN OATH TO ?SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.? YET MANY CADETS, LIKE MANY AMERICANS, POSSESS ONLY A LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSTITUTION, THE CONTEXTS FROM WHICH IT EMERGED, AND THE SPECIFIC FEATURES OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC.]
