Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Community project funding/Congressionally directed spending - Construction - This project will establish a telehealth suite at the Village of Rosebush Manor in Rosebush, Michigan to increase rural older adults' access to medical professionals in health professional shortage areas of Michigan.
The new suite will be utilized by seniors who reside at the Village of Rosebush Manor as well as in the Isabella County community. Without the telehealth suite, older adults would be forced to travel significant distances (because they live in rural areas with sparse access to health care professionals) to access necessary medical care and risk exposure to a new illness in the doctor’s waiting room.
This funding makes doctor visits feasible for patients who may forgo seeing a medical professional in person because of the challenge in getting to a doctor’s office. The telehealth suite will provide ongoing access to medical care in a safe and secure environment that protects patient privacy.
The telehealth suite significantly increases access to medical professionals and specialists who are in high demand and rarely located in rural communities (many over three hours away!).
