Grant Description
Award Purpose
The purpose of this project is to provide accelerated pathways to technical training and associate degree attainment with an intentional focus on equity through targeted recruitment and comprehensive support services.
Activities Performed
Participating colleges will develop competency-based education program models for computer user support specialist, industrial maintenance, and welding. They will also increase the capacity of programs and engage new community partners by providing referrals to the colleges or needed services to the students. Target outcomes for equity include enrolling 750 students from the target populations over four years.
Deliverables
Capacity Building Outcome 1: Develop and pilot a competency-based education program model for the following programs of study: computer user support specialist and industrial maintenance. 10 CBE programs will be piloted.
Capacity Building Outcome 2: Expand program offerings to accommodate more students. A total of 900 students will be able to be accommodated through program expansion.
Capacity Building Outcome 3: Create a framework for community recruitment and engagement by completing a community partnership mapping process.
Equity Outcome 1: Increase the enrollment of target populations in the advanced manufacturing, IT, and TDL sector programs to 750 students, representing a 20% growth.
Equity Outcome 2: Increase the completion rate of low-income students in the advanced manufacturing, IT, and TDL sector programs to close the equity gap.
Intended Beneficiary
Low-income students, students of color, and women (within these target populations, priority focus on unemployed and underemployed individuals, veterans, and individuals from a special population such as those receiving benefits from adult education (ESL) or disability services).
