Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this award is to fund SunLine Transit Agency's FY2024 acquisition of six zero-emission hydrogen fuel electric buses from the FY 2022 Federal Section 5339 (c) Low No Emission Discretionary Program grant with reference ID#D2022-LWNO-022.
Activities performed: The project involves the procurement of six (6) hydrogen fuel cell buses deployment into fixed route revenue service operator maintenance staff training project and grants management compliance and oversight reporting which includes labor fringe benefits and other directly related capital support activities.
The project and grants management labor and fringe are directly related to the capital deployment and meet the cost eligibility and allowability requirements under 2 CFR Part 200.
Expected outcomes: SunLine will deploy 6 zero-emission fuel cell electric buses operate the buses on a variety of routes throughout the Coachella Valley servicing various disadvantaged communities while significantly reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions retirement of six CNG buses with mileage of 500,000 and over.
Intended beneficiaries: SunLine Transit’s service area includes many disadvantaged communities including the communities of Indio, Coachella, and Mecca.
These communities are ranked in the 90-95th percentile for air pollution burden per the CalEnviro Screen 4.0.
Reducing emissions from public transportation in these communities would improve the air quality and minimize the adverse health effects that may result from poor air quality.
Subrecipient activities: SunLine Transit Agency has no sub-recipient for this award.
