Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: RTDS project increases fleet size which will allow service expansion in economically distressed neighborhoods in Stockton. This project meets four of five FTA program priorities that include: reducing greenhouse gases; advancing racial equity; maintaining and creating jobs with a free and fair choice to join a union; and connecting communities.
Activities performed: RTDS disadvantaged communities route expansion project will purchase five (5) hybrid electric buses to expand and increase the frequency of services in economically distressed environmental justice (EJ) neighborhoods within the disadvantaged areas of Stockton CA which also helps to reduce emissions in non-attainment areas.
Expected outcomes: By increasing service to Stockton's EJ neighborhoods this project promotes racial equity and removes barriers to opportunity by proactively investing in neighborhoods that are traditionally underserved. More than 2 billion people trips will be facilitated with this project in neighborhoods that have been disproportionately burdened by multiple sources of health-risk causing pollution--in census tracts with levels above 95 percentiles in PM 2.5 particulates. See San Joaquin RTD_JUSTICE 40_EJ.
Intended beneficiaries: The population of the Stockton urbanized service area and local transit riders.
Subrecipient activities: None
