Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: The funds in this grant allow OMNITRANS to purchase four hydrogen-fuel cell powered buses and related infrastructure. The buses will replace four 40-foot CNG-fueled buses that have reached the end of life. This project allows OMNITRANS to continue its implementation of our zero emissions fleet strategy.
Activities Performed: Funding will permit OMNITRANS to purchase the replacement of four 40-foot CNG-powered buses with four 40-foot hydrogen-fuel cell powered buses and related infrastructure to fuel and maintain the buses. The funding will also allow OMNITRANS to do workforce development by training interns on propulsion systems and vehicle maintenance.
Expected Outcomes: Funding will permit OMNITRANS to purchase the replacement of four 40-foot hydrogen-fuel cell powered buses. The buses will allow OMNITRANS to continue to provide operations and keep rolling stock vehicles in a state of good repair. The funds will also be used to buy a portable hydrogen station to fuel the buses. Lastly, the funds allow OMNITRANS to develop a future workforce by training interns on a new propulsion system.
Intended Beneficiaries: OMNITRANS and the riders that rely on its service will benefit from continued services, permitting riders to get to work and other destinations.
Subrecipient Activities: None.
