Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide FFY 2023 FTA 5307-TR-5307 (FHWA transfer funds) CMAQ funds to the West Valley Connector Bus Rapid Transit Project. The funds will allow Omnitrans to purchase eighteen (18) 40 ft. zero-emission buses for the service and construction and/or minor improvements at 21 total stations.
Activities Performed: The projects included in this funding are purchase of eighteen (18) 40 ft. zero-emission bus for the service and construction and/or minor improvements at 21 total stations. Construction of new station platforms; upgrades to existing platforms for signage and lighting; passenger amenities and improved access along entire line; fare collection and information systems.
Expected Outcomes: Funding will provide a crucial piece of the transportation system in western portion of Omnitrans service area with a direct BRT connection from Pomona, CA to Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This project will expand travel options, reduce commute times, and accommodate a larger share of the region's growth.
Intended Beneficiaries: All current and new transit passengers in Omnitrans service area, particularly the West Valley service area.
Subrecipient Activities: None.
