Grant Description
Application Purpose:
The purpose of this award is to provide $26,088,771 in FY 2021 Federal Section 5309 American Recovery Plan discretionary funds to construct the West Valley Connector Bus Rapid Transit Project (Discretionary ID# D2021-RPSS-003).

Activities Performed:
The project includes the following activities:
- Construction and/or minor improvements at 21 stations comprising 33 total platforms. Of these, 30 will be new station platforms, and 3 will improve existing station platforms, including improvements at Omnitrans West Valley Facility.
- Acquisition of real property and easements.
- Construction of new station platforms.
- Upgrades to existing platforms for signage and lighting.
- Passenger amenities and improved access along the entire line.
- Information systems.
- Roadway improvements and transit signal priority infrastructure.
- Design and engineering.
- Construction management.
- Permits.
- Other items to achieve full project implementation.
- The purchase of 18 40-foot battery electric buses for the service.

Expected Outcomes:
The project will provide a crucial piece of the transportation system in the western portion of Omnitrans service area with a direct BRT connection from Pomona, CA to Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This project will expand travel options and accommodate a larger share of the region's growth.

Intended Beneficiaries:
All current and new transit passengers in Omnitrans service area, particularly the West Valley service area.
