This application is to request FY 2021 Section 5339(b) funds discretionary ID# D2022-BUSC-010 in the amount of $4,799,979. Section 5339(b) FFY 2021 California UZA (UZA #060000): $4,799,979. Total Section 5339(b): $4,799,979. Overall grant funding total federal funds: $4,799,979. Total local funds (Transportation Development Act): $1,199,994. Total eligible costs: $5,999,973.

The City of San Luis Obispo is hereby submitting this grant application in support of the following project:

1. Battery Electric Bus Replacement: This grant applies FY 2021 FTA 5339(b) funds from discretionary grant ID# D2022-BUSC-010 in the amount of $4,799,797 to purchase six new battery electric 35-foot buses. The amount of $200,000 in FY 2022 Section 5307 (Pre-FAIN 1670-2022-2) funds will contribute to a portion of a bus to this grant. The new buses have an expected useful life of 12 years and/or 500,000 miles. The vehicles being replaced have met their useful life of 12 years and/or 500,000 miles and will be disposed of in accordance with federal requirements. These buses will meet the Clean Air Act standards (CAA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Purpose of the Award: The purpose of this award is to provide $4,799,979 of capital assistance to the City of San Luis Obispo to replace buses that are beyond their useful life with battery electric buses to provide zero-emission transit to the city.

Activities to be Performed: Funds will be used to purchase electric buses.

Expected Outcomes: The expected outcomes of this grant are to provide clean and reliable new buses.

Intended Beneficiaries: The intended beneficiaries are the city's riders.

Subrecipient Activities: The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
