The purpose of this agreement is to purchase and distribute local food targeting purchases from socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. Through this cooperative agreement, UNCI MAKA ETAN UNZANI PI KTE, Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program, will work with socially disadvantaged farmers and producers in underserved communities as well as establishing working relationships to ensure harvested cultural food items can find their way into the homes of all Oglala people.

The UNCI MAKA ETAN UNZANI PI KTE, Local Food Purchasing Assistant Program, will purchase high quality and nutritious food from local producers, with a goal of 100% locally attained, to include meat, poultry, fish, fruits, nuts, vegetables, mushrooms, wild game, and other cultural foods. The tribe plans to work with 100 local producers and vendors, 100 of whom will be socially disadvantaged. Quarterly performance reports will be submitted to capture the number of producers, socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, distribution sites, and underserved locations as well as funds expended for each category.

Annual reports will provide percentages of new marketing opportunities and purchases distributed beyond current food distribution networks. The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
