Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide capital and operating assistance to the City of Mobile Public Transportation System (THE WAVE TRANSIT SYSTEM).

Activities Performed: The following activities to be performed are as follows:

Project 1:
1) Buy replacement of two (2) 2024 GILLIG 35 low floor BRT diesel buses

Project 2:
1) Acquisition of two support vehicles
2) Construction/installation of bus shelter benches trash receptacles
3) Acquisition of five (5) Motorola radios
4) Preventive maintenance
5) Safety training/tracking
6) Short range transit planning
7) Operating assistance
8) Buy replacement of one (1) 2024 GILLIG 35 low floor BRT diesel bus

Project 3:
1) ADA complementary paratransit service

Expected Outcomes: The City of Mobile, operating as The Wave Transit System, will be able to continue providing fixed route transit services to transit dependent individuals and demand response transit services to the disabled community.

Intended Beneficiaries: The City of Mobile, along with transit dependent riders and the disabled community, will benefit from continued public transportation to jobs, shopping malls, doctor appointments, grocery stores, and other destinations to fulfill their needs. In addition, the disabled riders are able to utilize the complementary paratransit door to door transit services for doctor appointments, shopping, community activities, and wellness programs.
