Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this award is to purchase approximately two (2) expansion and approximately one (1) replacement 35 ft. ADA accessible battery electric buses and associated portable charging units for Ketchikan Gateway Borough.
This grant also includes related workforce development.
Activities performed: Activities to be performed are purchasing approximately three (3) battery electric buses with associated portable charging units along with workforce development for Ketchikan Gateway Borough.
Expected outcomes: Expected outcomes are to help to reduce harmful emissions, promote locally sourced hydroelectric power, and improve operating efficiency of the transit system.
Intended beneficiaries: Intended beneficiaries are residents and visitors to Ketchikan Gateway Borough (KGB) and communities.
Subrecipient activities: Ketchikan is a subrecipient to AKDOT for this project.

THE LOW OR NO EMISSION COMPETITIVE PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDING FOR THE PURCHASE OR LEASE OF ZERO-EMISSION AND LOW-EMISSION TRANSIT BUSES AS WELL AS ACQUISITION CONSTRUCTION AND LEASING OF REQUIRED SUPPORTING FACILITIES.
