Start Initial Application (00)
This grant application uses FY 2021 Section 5311 CRRSAA funds in the amount of $7,079,237 (representing 13.84% of the total allocation) for operating assistance and state administration to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus. The remaining $48,000,200 (representing 86.16% of the total allocation) was previously applied for by the Alaskan Marine Highway System under grant application AK-2021-038-00 for a total of $55,079,437 (representing 100% of the State of Alaska allocation).
Special Language for Furlough Certification
AKDOTPF certifies that it and any subrecipient or contractor that is a provider of public transportation: (a) are currently not furloughing any employees; (b) have, to the maximum extent possible, brought back any employees previously furloughed as a direct result of financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency; and (c) have rehired or posted to rehire any positions of employees who were laid off as a result of financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Special Condition for Emergency Related Funding
The recipient agrees that if it receives federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or through a pass-through entity through the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, a different federal agency, or insurance proceeds for any portion of a project activity approved for FTA funding under this grant agreement, it will provide written notification to FTA and reimburse FTA for any federal share that duplicates funding provided by FEMA, another federal agency, or an insurance company.

Purpose:
The application scope of work includes operating assistance to aid the rural public transportation providers statewide in returning to and maintaining the pre-COVID level of services, as well as meeting the post-COVID ongoing challenges.
Activities to be Performed:
FY2021 Section 5311 CRRSAA funds will be used for rural and intercity operating assistance.
Expected Outcomes:
This project will provide continued operation of public transportation services statewide.
Intended Beneficiaries:
Beneficiaries include public transportation providers in Bethel, Sitka, Kenai, Juneau, Girdwood, Craig, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Gakona, and Mat-Su.
Subrecipient Activities:
Activities will be operating assistance to support the continued operation of public transportation.
