Grant Description
This grant includes $6,000,000 in FY 2021 FHWA CRRSAA Highway Infrastructure Program (HIP) funds transferred to the Section 5311 program to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus. The application scope of work includes Inter-Island Ferry Authority operating assistance and state administration.
AKDOTPF certifies that it and any subrecipient or contractor that is a provider of public transportation:
(A) are currently not furloughing any employees;
(B) have, to the maximum extent possible, brought back any employees previously furloughed as a direct result of financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency; and
(C) have rehired or posted to rehire any positions of employees who were laid off as a result of financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The recipient agrees that if it receives federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or through a pass-through entity through the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, a different federal agency, or insurance proceeds for any portion of a project activity approved for FTA funding under this grant agreement, it will provide written notification to FTA and reimburse FTA for any federal share that duplicates funding provided by FEMA, another federal agency, or an insurance company.
Purpose:
The application scope of work includes operating assistance to Inter-Island Ferry in returning to and maintaining the pre-COVID level of services, as well as meeting the post-COVID ongoing challenges.
Activities to be performed:
Funds will be used for rural operating assistance and state administration.
Expected outcomes:
This project will provide continued operation of Inter-Island Ferry.
Intended beneficiaries:
Beneficiaries include Inter-Island Ferry public transportation system riders from Ketchikan to Craig, Alaska.

There are no subrecipients to this award.
