Description:
This agreement provides funding for the operation of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's continuing environmental programs while giving it greater flexibility to address its highest environmental priorities, improve environmental performance, achieve savings and strengthen the partnership between KDHE and EPA.
This agreement funds state continuing environmental programs for water, pollution control and other activities that compliment existing environmental program grants. The work includes outputs and outcomes associated with managing continuing environmental programs to protect and maintain the water within the state of Kansas.
Activities:
The activities to be performed include implementing and tracking program activities to ensure water quality as pertaining to water 106, PWSS and UIC requirements. KDHE will carry out its responsibilities regarding the NPDES program as detailed in the KDHE/EPA NPDES Memorandum of Agreement from 2020. KDHE will implement all nationally promulgated drinking water regulations.

No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes:
Anticipated deliverables include completed sanitary surveys under the PWSS program, issuance of industrial pretreatment permits, and audits or pretreatment compliance inspections to meet water quality regulations. The expected outcome from this agreement is cleaner water that follows the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System requirements. Other outcomes include maintaining the clean drinking water for the state of Kansas and reduction of the number of community water systems out of compliance with health-based standards. Direct beneficiaries of this program are the residents of the state of Kansas and the general public.
