Overview
Grant Description
Description: This agreement provides funding for the operation of the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (VIDPNR) continuing environmental programs while giving it greater flexibility to address its highest environmental priorities, improve environmental performance, achieve administrative savings and strengthen the partnership between VIDPNR and EPA.
This agreement funds state continuing environmental programs for air, clean water, drinking water, groundwater, non-point source pollution, and pesticide in addition to collecting environmental data and to looking at pollution prevention.
Activities: This activity funds statewide environmental programs to protect and improve water quality in each of the watersheds, ensure safe drinking water, protect groundwater resources, proper control of the use of pesticides, and protect and improve air quality in the US Virgin Islands.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: This work plan includes deliverables associated with managing continuing environmental programs such as the development of quality assurance project plans, Territorial Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES), beach and ambient water quality, non-point source pollution, drinking water sanitary surveys in addition to ensuring compliance with public water suppliers, air compliance, protection of groundwater resources, and the proper use of pesticides in the US Virgin Islands.
Inspection reports and permits would be issued as necessary as it pertains to maintaining compliance.
The work plan also includes outputs and outcomes associated with managing such programs, which include activities to protect and maintain water and air quality, as well as compliance with pesticide applications.
Direct beneficiaries of these environmental programs are the citizens and the environment of the US Virgin Islands.
