Description:
This agreement provides funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to ZUM Services, Inc. This agreement is to replace existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.

This assistance agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $26,759,482,00. Pre-award costs are approved back to 04/01/2024. See terms and conditions.

Activities:
The activities include replacing several diesel/gasoline buses with zero-emission buses and installing DC fast charging infrastructure. The zero-emission buses will serve a number of schools throughout California.

Subrecipient:
No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes:
The anticipated deliverables include the purchase of several zero-emission buses and purchase/installation of DC fast charging infrastructure. A number of school districts will benefit totaling over 2,000 students. A number of training sessions will be conducted, including training sessions for admin and operations staff, training sessions for drivers, and training sessions for mechanics.

The expected outcomes include: 36,000 tons of GHGs reduced over the 12 years of lifetime of the buses and improved ambient air quality in communities in which the buses operate, improvements to human health and the environment, the local economy, social conditions, and the welfare of residents in nearby communities, improved workforce training programs for zero emission vehicles and charging infrastructure and changes in driver behavior, such as reducing idling operations of clean school buses or optimizing efficiency of EV operations, increased public awareness, advancement in community engagement ensuring that the voices of all affected parties are heard and considered, and gain an understanding of the positive environmental impact and potential economic savings from the project.

The intended beneficiaries include the grant recipient, ZUM Services Inc., the school districts receiving the zero-emission school buses, school children, and the communities surrounding these school districts. Pre-award costs have been approved back to 04/01/2024.
