Description:
The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to provide funding assistance to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) in its efforts to reduce mobile source emissions in the South Coast Air Basin (SCAB). This agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $7,998,024.00. Preaward costs have been approved back to April 1, 2022.
Activities:
The recipient will implement activities within the scope of EPA's Targeted Airshed Grant Program, including:
1) Demonstration of long-haul zero-emission fuel cell electric trucks
2) Replacement of legacy diesel school buses with zero-emission battery-electric school buses.
These projects will provide valuable insights into long-haul fuel cell electric trucks and battery-electric school buses as strategies for reducing emissions of tropospheric ozone and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) precursor pollutants in communities throughout California's South Coast Air Basin.
Subrecipient:
No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes:
The anticipated deliverables and outcomes of this award include:
1) Demonstration of several long-haul zero-emission fuel cell electric trucks
2) Replacement of several diesel school buses with new zero-emission battery-electric school buses.
Direct beneficiaries of this program include SCAB residents who will have decreased exposure to ambient ozone and PM2.5 emissions.
