This project provides funding for Hawaii's Department of Health's response program that includes enhanced capacity building, technical and oversight support to grantees, developers, and community. It also includes timely survey and inventory of brownfield sites, which are properties whose expansion, redevelopment or reuse may be complicated by the presence of hazardous substances. Additionally, it includes oversight and enforcement authorities to ensure that response actions protect human health and the environment. The project also provides resources to facilitate meaningful public involvement, mechanisms for approval of cleanup plans, and verification of complete responses. The objective of this project is to assist in remediating and redeveloping brownfield sites throughout the state of Hawaii.

This assistance agreement provides full federal funds in the amount of $860,000.
